HUNTING SWORD 20TH CENTURY

640,00

GERMAN C. 1900–1920

A German Hunting dagger Hirschfänger with a beautifully etched Solingen blade. Grip made of staghorn and decorated with brass acorns. D-shaped crossguard with deer hoofs on both ends. Leather scabbard with brass mounts.

The blade of the dagger is unsharpened. Usually these were merely made for stabbing and most of the time they served as a status symbols of jaeger hunters when getting together in hunting associations.

The dagger is in extremely nice condition showing only slight darkening on the blade. Scabbard mounts and brass parts on the grip have chocolate-toned patina where the original protective lacquer has worn off.
