DESCRIPTION
An antique Italian Genoese knife, so-called ‘passacorda’ manufactured in the city of Genoa approximately in the 1750s-1790s. The gilded brass handle depicting a naval ram is fitted with silver mounts, the upper one chiselled extremely finely in a shape of a lion’s head. The strong carbon steel blade has a strengthened tip suitable for piercing thick jackets. The tip of the blade has a ‘sewing hole’ typical for the Genoese knives. The wooden scabbard is covered with fishskin.
CONDITION
The knife is in good antique condition with some signs of age and wear. The sheath has split at the bottom due to drying out. The knife fits well in its scabbard.
