JAPANESE SWORD GUARD ‘TSUBA’ IN NANBAN STYLE

DESCRIPTION
An antique sword guard ‘tsuba’ in Nanban style manufactured probably in Japan or China, approximately in the 18th century or early 19th century. The iron guard is skillfully pierced and chiselled with entwined gilded dragons in a multilayer work. The guard is unsigned.

CONDITION
The guard is in good antique condition with typical minor signs of age and wear especially on the gilding.
