DESCRIPTION
An antique Sinhalese piha kaetta knife, probably manufactured in the late 18th century in the Kingdom of Kandy, Sri Lanka (then Ceylon). The black handle is skillfully carved and fitted with silvered brass mounts and brass rivets. The brass bolster is engraved in a shape of a peacock tail. The thick steel blade is clip-pointed and single-fullered. The spine, fuller and ricasso are decorated with geometrical patterns highlighted with brass. The knife comes without a scabbard.
CONDITION
The knife is in good antique condition with minor signs of age and overall wear. The handle is missing one chip near the bolster.
