IMPERIAL RUSSIAN M/1881 DRAGOON SHASHKA SABRE

DESCRIPTION
An antique Imperial Russian M/1881 shashka sabre for an NCO officer manufactured in 1915 Zlatoust for the Russian army in WWI. The brass-mounted handle features brown wooden grip scales. The crossguard is marked and dated by the manufacturer and stamped with regimental markings. An original leather portepe tassel is attached. The wide-fullered steel blade is marked and dated by the manufacturer on ricasso. The wooden scabbard is covered with black leather and fitted with brass mounts. The upper scabbard mount shows regimental markings matching with the ones on the crossguard.

CONDITION
The sword is in used antique condition with some signs of age and wear. The blade shows heavy pitting especially on its last fourth. The leather tassel is worn and damaged. The scabbard is in good original condition. The sword fits well in the scabbard. When compared to the scabbard, the blade seems to retain its original length.
