BALKAN OTTOMAN BICHAQ DOUBLE KNIFE

DESCRIPTION
An exceptional antique Balkan bichaq double knife manufactured probably in the late 19th century Balkan peninsula during the Ottoman reign. The split buffalo horn handle is shaped similarly as the yatagan swords and it is fitted with a nickelsilver lower mount. The finely-made carbon steel blade is single-edged, triple-fullered. The knife is accompanied by a smaller and simpler side knife with a simple buffalo horn hilt and carbon steel blade. The leather-covered wooden scabbard is lightly dot-decorated and its tip is reinforced with a stronger piece of leather. The scabbard comes with its original leather belt strap.

CONDITION
The knife is in good antique condition with small signs of age and wear. The handle of the main knife shows a small crack. The leather of the scabbard shows some typical wear, especially on the belt strap. The both knives fit tightly and well in their scabbard.
