DESCRIPTION
An original vintage Finnish WWII medal, the Commemorative Medal of the Winter War (Talvisodan Muistomitali). This medal, designed by Aarno Karimo in 1940, was awarded to those who participated in the Winter War (1939-1940). Approximately 700,000 medals were awarded. The round medal is made of blued steel, and the text “KUNNIA ISÄNMAA” is inscribed on the reverse. The original red-and-black silk ribbon is attached with an original metal clasp “ILMAPUOLUSTUS” which was awarded to a person who participated in air defence operations.
CONDITION
The medal is in good vintage condition with minor signs of age and wear.
