AMHARA SHIELD WITH GILDED BRASS MOUNTS

ETHIOPIA c. 1800-1900

A fine Amhara shield with an original handle and red-coloured backside. The front is embellished with decorative gilded brass mounts. The shape is typical with the deep curvature and centered boss for the handle. The center area has four silver-finished separate bosses which is an unusual feature.
