An interesting brass-mounted yataghan-shaped antique dagger with bone handle set with red glass stones. The wooden scabbard is covered with fainted blue cloth and is fitted with rocaille-patterned decorated scabbard mounts. The shape and the style of this dagger is somewhat pequliar. We assume it was made in the Balkans likely for the European market or made in the Continental Europe for Balkan market. The decoration with rocailles and printbook patterns on scabbard mounts would suggest more likely a European maker concentrated in hunting daggers and swords. The dagger is in fine antique condition.
