BAROQUE DOOR LOCK

SCANDINAVIA / NORTH GERMANY c. 1650–1750

An embossed and engraved lock in tinned iron with two hatch-closing and locking door. The item is decorated with typical baroque acanthus leaves. The lock system is closed so it was more secured than the previous open-framed locks. The condition is very fine with original tinning. Tinning was for preventing rust and it gave additional silverish finish for iron objects.
