BHUTANESE SILVER-MOUNTED DAGGER

c. 1880-1920 / Bhutan

Single edged blade with 1cm fuller on both sides of the blade. Tip of the blade is marked with a brass inlay, possibly a maker’s mark or a symbol. The grip is made of facetted buffalo horn and the silver hilt cap is decorated with a fierce demon, embossed in brass. The scabbard is made of silver, embossed with a brass dragon and a brass phoenix fighting over the sun. All silver mounts on the dagger seem to be low-grade silver.
