STONE AXE FROM NEOLITHIC PERIOD

2250,00

c. 4000–1700 b.c. DENMARK

A fine-quality axehead made of a single orange-coloured flintstone. The chosen colour and the fine shaping of this axe shows us the importance of weapons and tools among the Neolithic people. This axe might have had more purpose as a ceremonial weapon or a gift than merely of tool for doing domestic works. The origin of our axe is certainly Danmark where flintstone in different colours was vastly available.

Finely shaped stone tools are the first bench marks of development towards new materials, commercialism and centered manufacture of human made objects. These objects have plenty of character, artistic nature and they show us first steps of weapons. Our axe is coming from a large South Swedish private collection and bears an old painted collection number.
