IMPERIAL RUSSIAN BRIQUET SABRE

IMPERIAL RUSSIA / GERMANY, c. 1900–1915

An early 20th century briquet-type sabre manufactured in Germany and used by the Imperial Russian Police and Gendarmes special corps. The brass hilt and scabbard mounts are finished in nickel. The original frog and scabbard are made of black leather. The slightly curved steel blade has no markings. The crossguard is marked ’23’. The sabre is in good original condition with minor damage on the scabbard edge (pictured).
