HUSSAR SABRE
Imperial Russia / 1780s
An unidentified pattern of an Imperial Russian officer sabre typical for the period of Catherine II. The brass hilt depicting a shallow lion head reminds of the Polish and Russian hussar uniform style for carrying lynx or panther skin clasped around the shoulders. Typical for this pattern is also the flat wooden grip covered with ray or shark skin. The simple steel blade has no markings or decorations. A rare model in good antique condition with typical signs of wear.
