ITALIAN M/1843 INFANTRY HANGER

DESCRIPTION
An antique Italian infantry hanger M/1843 manufactured in the mid 19th century for the use of the Italian-Piedmontese army. The model received its fame during the Wars of Italian Independence 1848-49 and 1859. The single-cast brass hilt is stamp-marked “ZG”. The unfullered, curved steel blade is single-edged. The ricasso features an ambigious stamp “RE”(?). The washer is missing. The sword comes without a scabbard.

CONDITION
The sword is in untouched antique condition with some signs of age and overall wear. The blade shows some pitting and the hilt has some darkened areas.
