M/1888 OFFICER SABRE

An antique Italian M/1888 officer sabre with chequered wooden grip scales and three-bar steel hilt. The fullered steel blade is etched with vine patterns. The original steel scabbard is equipped with two suspension rings. A sword knot or portepe, which is apparently original is attached to the hilt. The sword is in untouched antique condition with signs of wear. The grip shows signs of some modifications and repairs. The steel parts of the hilt and the scabbard have a nice dark patina. The scabbard has a few dents. The extreme tip of the clip-pointed blade is slightly bent.
