KATAR DAGGER WITH A FLAMBOYANT BLADE

DECCAN, INDIA, c. 1680–1720

An unusual Indian katar dagger with an extremely fine flamboyant blade made of damascus wootz steel. The steel handle is decorated with floral patterns, covered with gilded silver foil. The condition of the dagger is very fine and the blade form is highly unusual.
