OTTOMAN BRASS-MOUNTED SHAMSHIR SABRE

A nice Ottoman shamshir sabre with a European style single-fullered cavalry blade. The fuller has a floral decoration and an Islamic cartouche damascened in gold. The grip made of highly polished horn is decorated with silver-finished brass rivets matching with the brass crossguard and scabbard mounts. The wooden scabbard is covered in black leather. The sabre is in good, original antique condition with minor signs of wear and some depression on the grip scales.
