SPANISH ANDALUSIAN 1700s CUCHILLO KNIFE

DESCRIPTION
An original antique cuchillo knife manufactured most probably in Andalusia, Southern Spain in the late 18th century. The plug-shaped brass hilt is decorated with bold Baroque ornaments and fitted with thin sheets of dark cow horn. The triangular, single-edged steel blade is engraved with decorative geometric motifs and fitted with a brass ricasso. The brass scabbard is engraved en suite with the hilt and blade.

CONDITION
The knife is in untouched antique condition with signs of age and wear. Part of the horn sheets of the handle are broken and missing. The brass parts show signs of dark patina and some steel parts light surface rust. The knife fits tightly and well in its sheath.
