SWEDISH M/1748 INFANTRY HANGER

460,00

DESCRIPTION
An antique Swedish infantry hanger (huggare) M/1848 manufactured in the mid 18th century for the use of the Swedish army. The model received its fame during the Finnish War 1808-09. The brass hilt is marked with two crown stamps (one in the pommel and one in the crossguard) and a number stamp ‘4’ on the handguard. The handle has an old collection tag attached. The curved and fullered steel blade is double-edged in its last-fifth. Remains of the red velvet washer are still visible. The black leather scabbard is brass-mounted. The upper mount comes with a belt hook.

CONDITION
The sword is in good antique condition with some signs of age and overall wear. The handle guard’s cup has apparently taken a hard blow at some point (possibly from another sword?) and has two small dents along its edges. The sword and the scabbard fit well together.
