TIBETAN c. 1900

A Tibetan ritual khadga dagger, so-called Flame of Wisdom which was a symbol to cut through the veils of ignorance. The sword or dagger of wisdom is very often related to Manjushri who represents prajna (transcendent wisdom) of the Buddhas in Mahayana Buddhism.

The copper hilt is elegantly formed as an open bell with fire-breathing dragons on the stem. The blade is made of blackened iron in the form of a flame. The handle with beautiful, unpolished brown patina. The blade has its original unpolished blackened finish. A beautiful ritual object showing the Tibetan culture at its best.
