YATAGHAN WITH SILVER HILT

ALBANIA c. 1800–1850

A fine Albanian style (Boka Kotorska) yataghan with an embossed and engraved silver handle finished with floral decorations. The top of the handle is inset with a red coral. The almost straight blade has long inscriptions, probably information about the owner, maker and date. Unfortunately we have not been able to translate the text. The scabbard is missing. This sword of a rare and distinct type is in nice condition with some overall light wear.
