SHAMSHIR SABRE WITH SILVER HILT

c. 1870 PROBABLY SAUDI ARABIA

Shamshir of a Saudi Arabian style with silver-finished hilt. The crossguard with reliefs of trophies and the scabbard with silver-finished brass mounts. The Georgian style blade engraved with the texts: “No god like Allah and Mohammed is His messenger”. Marked with a deep stamp in the middle with name of Uthmar. Mention of sword of Ali, Zulfigar.

The blade is of a high-quality, but doesn’t seem to be a damascus.
