BHUTAN, 19th Century

A 19th century open-scabbarded Bhutanese short sword ‘patag’ or ‘patang’ with skillfully made silver-filigree scabbard mounts fitted with turquoises. The handle, made of dark hardwood, has silver wired grip. The steel blade is single-edged. Some of the turquoise decorations are missing.
