AUSTRIAN GERMAN 1850s OFFICIAL SWORD PROJECT

DESCRIPTION
An antique Central European official sword manufactured most probably in the mid 19th century Austria or Germany, possibly Switzerland. The richly-decorated brass hilt features a wooden grip which has probably originally been covered with mother-of-pearl. The pommel is cast in a shape of a lion and the hand guard in a shape of a snake. The crossguard shield features an unidentified coat of arms. The wide-fullered single-edged steel blade is beautifully etched with trophies, floral motifs and coat of arms. The sword comes without a scabbard.

CONDITION
The sword is in used antique condition with signs of age and wear. The grips is missing its mother-of-pearl covers and the crossguard is loose. The blade is straight and in rather good condition with no heavy pitting.
