SPEARHEAD DAGGER
Java / 19th Century
A high-quality and unique Javanese spearhead dagger with deeply engraved bone hilt with floral patterns and crossguard with cross chain of a European naval style from the first part of the 19th century. The wooden scabbard is covered with black leather and fitted with large silver mounts. The triangular steel blade has a strong pattern typical for the Javanese region. The dagger is in good antique condition with minor signs of wear. The item seems to be a quite unique object of the style and it has probably been made for an officer serving under the European rule in Java.
