SOUTH AFRICAN SHONA CEREMONIAL AXE

DESCRIPTION
A vintage South African ceremonial axe, attributed to the Shona people and manufactured probably during the first half of the 20th century in the area of present-day Zimbabwe or Botswana. The long, symmetrical steel blade is decorated with checkered patterns. The wooden handle is finished with thick brass wire work.

CONDITION
The item is in good vintage condition with small signs of age and wear. The blade is firmly attached to the handle.
