A fine French style silvergilt-hilted smallsword with a fluted decoration throughout the hilt. The fine original silver binding is combined with copper. The steel blade is engraved with French mottoes and is partially gilded. The hilt has several Swedish silver marks: the pommel is marked with three crowns and the crossguard has a city marking of Stockholm and a year marking L (1769). Unfortunately, the maker’s mark is illegible for us. The sword is in very fine antique condition.
