SWEDISH M/1856 INFANTRY HANGER

DESCRIPTION
An antique Swedish infantry hanger (huggare) M/1856 manufactured in the mid 19th century for the use of the Swedish army. The wooden handle is black-painted and brass-mounted. The brass ring of the upper mount has an old collection tag attached. The crossguard is marked ‘157’. No other stamps visible. The curved single-edged and fullered steel blade is unmarked. The original leather washer is attached. The black leather scabbard is brass-mounted an the upper mounts comes with the belt hook.

CONDITION
The sword is in good antique condition with some signs of age and overall wear. The blade shows some pitting and grounding marks and its extreme tip is missing. The scabbard has a minor damage on its upper part. The sword and the scabbard fit well together.
