DESCRIPTION
An antique Bavarian German M/1855 infantry officer’s sabre manufactured by Carl Eickhorn workshop in the mid 19th century Solingen, Germany. The fishskin-gripped brass handle is marked with regimental markings. The wide-fullered curved steel blade is marked by the manufacturer. The blade is etch-decorated both side with floral motifs and the typical Bavarian motto ‘IN TREUE FEST’. ‘The original leather washer is still attached. The sword comes without a scabbard.
CONDITION
The sword is in good antique condition with some signs of age and wear. The blade shows minor pitting and its last sixth is slighly bent.
