EUROPEAN ARMOUR
16TH CENTURY SINGLE GAUNTLET
FRENCH OR FLEMISH C. 1580–1620
Rare type of a high-quality West European right-handed gauntlet with gothic influences in its styling. This finely executed and roped piece remains three original fingers with almost all of their original plates. The thumb and one finger are unfortunately missing. The style of the edge roping suggests French or Flemish origin. The dating might be even a few decades earlier than we cautiously estimate.
