IMPERIAL RUSSIAN 1800s ZLATOUST-MADE HUNTING DAGGER
1990,00 €
DESCRIPTION
A beautiful antique hunting knife manufactured in the late 19th century Zlatoust, Imperial Russia. The handle features chequered wooden grip scales fitted with finely engraved white-metal mounts, possibly silver. The crossguard is of a classic type with ball-shaped ends. The single-fullered double-edged blade is finely engraved with floral motifs and Russian mottos including the manufacturer marking (Златоу́ст). The wooden scabbard is covered with green velvet and fitted with floral-decorated, engraved whitemetal mounts – en suite with the handle mounts. The scabbard comes with a metal belt loop.
CONDITION
The knife is in beautiful antique condition with minor signs of age and wear. The blade is in particularly fine condition and has retained its original polish. The base of the blade has absorbed a little moisture and taken on a brownish tint, which we have not cleaned off so as not to damage the blade’s original luster. The knife fits tightly and well in its scabbard.
